Okay, so here is the question.

I've received numerous requests to support Taviana by DayzLand in DayZCommander.  Recently, I've been waiting for the server files to get released before I added it.  I did this because the last time I released mods that didn't have server files available to everyone, there was quite an uprising by the community. See this post for an example: http://dayzmod.com/f...-this-crap-off/

This morning, the guys over at DayZLand released some server files... sort of.  They are only giving the server files to those who formally request it from them, and then they can choose who's allowed to get it and host their own Taviana server.  It's not a technical challenge; running a Taviana server does not connect to their hive or put any technical strain on their resources.

I'm hesitant to release another dayz mod under these similar chained server conditions, so I figured I'd let it up to the community to decide.

Please let me know your feelings by leaving a short comment.

Thank you.

I don't like the fact that the files are being restricted to servers of their choosing, as much as I want Taviana on DayZCommander, I'd wait until the server files have actually been released publicly and all servers can run it. I expect most people will tell you to support it though because from a users standpoint, most don't care if x server isn't allowed to host it but y and z servers can, just that they can install and play it.

I certainly say yes.  I realize it is a little unfair of them to restrict who can and can not receive their server files, but I don't think that is a reason to restrict people from having the ease of access of using DayZCommander.  Currently, unless you know a decent amount about modding ARMA (and by the recent influx in players having just bought ARMA for DayZ there's a fair number who don't in the community) it can be a little tricky installing Taviana and getting it working properly.  I say why not get it for DayZCommander.  It will only further encourage people to use your software more.  Any and everything you can do to spread the word of DayZCommander is a good thing.

The DayZLand administrators have announced their server file release policy in this dayzmod.com post:

"19 communities request server files and in start to make server with DayzTaviana.
And we make support board for bug/reports from all servers.
If you want to make server with DayzTaviana just send us request.
Thank all who understand all. Thank you for Beans too.

And we start to have problems with Vilayer.......
Also see the topic from @Kampfkarnickel about his steal version DayzTavianaPublic, what he wait for? I dont know.
Only shitmakers stop us to release direct link to our work.

How to:
go to DayzLand board -> make request -> not in our shitmakers list -> take key and server files

Shitmakers go to have server files in the end, if they no change the side."

(In summary, they will decide which servers are permitted to use Taviana on a case by case basis, and anyone that has offended them will not get permission.)

I would personally like to see the server files released before the mod is implemented in DZC.

This is more of a principal case, as i do not approve of their release type. As you said, it would cause them no trouble, if they allowed everyone to host the map. I get its a lot of work, and that it is their map after all, but i simply don't see what they gain.

Therefore in short, i hope that DZC could help push the developers to release the server files freely.

I would love to see taviana support by commander. I guess it is there right to decide who to give it to, but at least with commander those servers who do have it will get plenty of exposure. Hopefully the popularity will cause it to cascade out onto others. If something has momentum, it always finds a way out.

I would also love to see Taviana supported by commander, as commander is the only programme i use for dayz, i keep my dayz/arma 2 updated using commander, i download all maps via commander as its the easiest way. I know it unfair that some server owners will be rejected for Taviana hosting, but they even said as long as they didn't receive any abuse from you(etc), there should be no problems. So, i vote yes for DayZ Commander to support Taviana.

I think if you added it to DZC there would not be enough servers to run it for the player demand at the moment.  There are only 10 servers right now (all with terrible pings I might add) and the decision to only allow hosters that they know personally is going to put a bottleneck on the amount of people that can actually play the map.

That's my (possibly biased) opinion.

EDIT:
<~ayan4m1> I am not giving a version of Bliss with Taviana support to ANYONE unless it is fully public.
<~ayan4m1> Until they OK me to release it I will do nothing. If they tell me they won't allow a public release everything gets deleted

So basically it won't have any kind of stable server support (bliss) until it is made public.  I recommend waiting until then since it seems to not be public under the guise of fixing bugs before a public release and supporting buggy maps doesn't seem efficient anyway.

Concur.  I got a global ban from Battleye the other day.  I'm not a hacker, and have no hacker skills.  Research indicates that my key code was probably stolen when I tried to unsucessfully download Taviana from another website.  I say unsuccessfully because I was never able to actually download the proper files after getting redirected to two other dodgy looking locations.  Within 12 hours I was banned by Battleye.  Being able to download new maps from a trusted location like DayZ commander would alleviate people having to go to an untrusted site to get new maps.  As such, I'm all for having Taviana loaded onto DayZ commander.

Currently there are 13 servers for Taviana, so I can see why you would hold off, however, I can see a lot of servers taking it up as it's a pretty good map, I'm using commander to join those servers at the moment, even though not officially supported.

I can't see anyone going against you for including it, more maps the merrier I think.

Server files are released, and at least one large hosting company is now hosting this... you can see the list of servers is already climbing... from 12 yesterday now there is 32 and been climbing all day as more servers are allowed to host it.

You can see the amount of them above.

My server is about to go Taviana tomorrow and I would appreciate it if DayZ Commander supported it, as it is becoming quite popular.

Once the Taviana server files are released publicly I think DayZ commander should host it, if they continue to only release them on a case by case basis which is absolutely ridiculous, it shouldn't be put on commander.
